This and a lot more has been written about the trio from Basel since its foundation in April 2002. Now, the messieurs Gisin (vocals, guitar), Redolfi (bass, vocals), and Hediger (drums) are ready again – they are full of energy, motivation, and appetite.
Lets have a look back: After the release of the EP “1st race” (Middle Class Pig Records), which contains six songs, the band started its first tour in November 2002 as the supporting act of “Danko Jones”. Since then the three gentlemen have covered thousands of kilometres and moved the hearts of many rockers. Besides shows in Switzerland, the band has toured through Germany and Italy several times. The three rockers have also raised the roof of many clubs in Austria, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, France and the United States. They have played with such distinct bands like “Fu Manchu”, “Wolfmother”, “Blue Cheer”, “Mondo Generator”, “Psychopunch”, “Adam West”, “Mother Superior”, or “The Masons” – to name a few.
The band associates intensive moments with the United States, more precisely Seattle: after several shows along the American west coast the Zamarros recorded two albums with the cult producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Zeke, Thearapy, Supersuckers, Zen Guerilla etc.) in the City of Grunge: “Lust in Translation” (2004, Supermodern Music) and “The Beast is on your Track” (2006, Supermodern Music). Owing to Endino’s great experience and remarkable understanding of sound, two records were created that were able to transport the identity of Zamarro.
For the third LP the band chose a new path: this path did not lead to Seattle (Washington) as it had done before but to Gelterkinden (Basel-Country) into the Little Creek Studio of V.O. Pulver (lead singer of the legendary Basel Metal band “Gurd”). The new creation was to be gradually produced during four recording sessions within a year. The band wanted each recorded track to incorporate the power and enthusiasm of the song’s infancy. This clearly was the right decision, for the disc sounds incredibly fiery, energetic, and courageous. Pulver exquisitely succeeded in catching the Zamarro-Rock shockwaves and capturing their power on the recording. Hence “Dirty Power” came into existence – twelve snotty and pounding rock anthems that will go for your throat. People in the Basel area, who have listened to some songs from the album, already rumour that “Dirty Power” is going to be the best Zamarro album ever. The record will be published by the Swiss indie label “LC-Records” and it will be available almost everywhere on our planet.
