Official website of Punk/Ska/Oi band Hot Arab Army on Band For The Day.

Band History Basically the band has been around forever in one way or another and the task of trying to work it all out is way too hard so apologies for any mistakes here guys. The Early Days From what i can remember the band formed as a result of other bands splitting... we were all in pretty decent bands from around Yorkshire, UK but like young musicians who tend to be full of hormones and booze it wasn't long before there were fallings out over who shagged who, who wrote what, where the bands were gonna play... blah blah blah. To cut a (very) long story short the band got together for our first jam as a bit of fun around autumn 2003 (i was there playing bass). The band pretty much were driven by booze, sex, drugs, booze, sex (you get the picture). Sadly back then i was still with another band with studio time booked so i wasn't a 'real' Arab but was around the band. The first real stable version of the band consisted of: Joe Sheffield - guitar Paul C - guitar/vocals Tom Richards - bass Dave Philips - drums The amount of gigging increased, the reputation of the band grew and the mental songs like Our Town Is Full Of Poles and Holy Wars In A Lunchtime became cult faves amongst the few ardent fans. But the crazy makeup of the band and lack of equipment didn't make for a great future and the band as it was struggled to carry on as we were so in mid 2004 there was a change to the line up with a new bassist (me!) The band seemed to be stable so it was a bit of a shock when singer/guitarist Paul C left but in need of a singer urgently i was kinda forced to do a few gigs on the vocals as well as bass with just one guitarist. The line up now was settled as: Joe Sheffield - guitar Matt Thomas - bass/vocals Dave Philips - drums We tried a few different people out in various gigs but never really tied anyone down in the end it made no difference cause we called it a day in 2005. The 'New' Hot Arab Army Well what can i say? We're back and kinda by accident. Me and one of the old guys from the scene back then bumped into each other after losing touch and were chin wagging about what we had been up to music wise and laughing at the great times we had had when i says
